Chester Ceramics Fair was created with one simple aim: to celebrate the incredible ceramic talent on our doorstep.
Across Cheshire and the surrounding counties, there are so many talented potters creating beautiful handmade work, yet opportunities to showcase it are surprisingly few. We wanted to create a dedicated ceramics event in Chester where local and regional makers could take centre stage, meet new audiences and share the stories behind their work.
There are some wonderful ceramics festivals and craft markets across the UK, but Chester Ceramics Fair is a celebration of one craft in all its forms. From functional mugs and bowls to sculptural pieces, colourful glazes and experimental surfaces, every maker brings something different – and that’s exactly what makes clay so exciting.

For me, pottery is much more than the finished piece. I love every stage of the journey – from a simple lump of clay to carving, glazing and finally opening the kiln to discover what’s inside. With a background in the arts and marketing, I’ve spent many years working alongside artists, creative organisations and community projects before discovering my own passion for ceramics. Since qualifying and becoming a tutor at Cheshire Pottery, clay has become an important part of my life. It’s endlessly creative, wonderfully unpredictable and something I’m passionate about sharing with others.
My hope is that Chester Ceramics Fair inspires more people to buy handmade, support local makers, have a go at pottery themselves and discover just how much creativity exists within our local ceramic community.
After all, every pot has a story – and every maker does too.
