Ceramics are the perfect excuse to spend a day in Chester.
Whether you’re coming to find a special piece for your home, meet the potters behind the work or simply enjoy a day out, we’d love you to slow down and make a day of it.
The doors open at 9.30am, so why not grab a coffee and pop over to our Welcome Point. Come and say hello, pick up one of our Chester Ceramics Fair tote bags (trust me… you’ll probably need it!) and we’ll point you in the direction of our wonderful ceramic artists.
Take your time as you wander around the fair. Chat to the makers, ask questions and discover the inspiration behind their work. Throughout the day we’ll also be inviting artists to share a little about their practice, so if you’ve ever wondered how a favourite mug, bowl or vase came to life, this is your chance to hear the story.
Our first venue – The Storyhouse, has a wonderful library, café and year-round programme of theatre and cinema, while just around the corner you’ll find Chester Cathedral, the Roman city walls, independent shops, riverside walks and boat trips along the River Dee.
However you choose to spend the rest of your day, we hope you’ll leave with more than just a beautiful handmade pot. We hope you’ll leave inspired.
After all… it’s called Make a Day with Clay for a reason.
